Rowdy youths disrupt IEBC training in Homa Bay County

Youths disrupt IEBC training in Homa Bay County

Youths in Homa Bay County temporarily disrupted an IEBC training center in Kasipul Constituency on Tuesday.

The training was being done for presiding officers and their deputies at Sikri School for the Deaf.

The angry youths who wanted the training stopped entered the venue and attacked the trainees with intentions to scare them.

Homa Bay County Returning Officer Michael Kosgei said the situation was restored a few minutes later.

“The Constituency Returning Officer left the training center for a few minutes and found the disruption going on. But police managed to quell the tension and the training is going on well,” said Kosgei.

The County Police Commander Marius Tum said they beefed up security to ensure the trainings are successful.

“We are vigilant and will not allow any form of disruption to take place. Our officers are manning security in all the training centers,” Tum said.

The youths allegedly took the action after politicians in the area threatened to bar the poll officials from manning the election.
