Opposition leaders from Gusii region have accused the Government of hoodwinking youths by enrolling them into the National Youth Service (NYS) projects in constituencies.

Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire said the plan has backfired with the government under immense pressure to deliver decent jobs.

The leaders were reacting after Public Service and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki on Wednesday launched the services in Borabu and Kitutu Masaba in Nyamira and Nyaribari Chache constituencies.

Similar projects are also in Bobasi, Nyaribari Masaba, Bomachoge Borabu.

Ms Kariuki said those enrolled stood a chance to continue earning their weekly pay if President Uhuru Kenyatta is re-elected in August.
