Police officer arrested after claiming he lost gun

A police officer was arrested by his colleagues after he reported he had lost his official pistol loaded with 15 bullets in the city centre. The constable had been issued with the weapon last Thursday, but he went to the Central Police Station on Monday claiming he had lost the Ceska pistol on his way to Umoja.

He was arrested following the report. It is not clear how he lost the weapon and he could not explain the same. Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome said the officer is under probe and would be charged in court if there is evidence of negligence.
