Acting DCI boss Hamisi Masaa did not make it to the final shortlist of officers who are being considered for appointment to replace George Kinoti.

Ten top police officers have been shortlisted by the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) for interviews for the position of the next Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss.

The 10 were picked from a list of 253 applicants. The NPSC invited applications to fill the position that fell vacant following Kinoti's resignation.

The shortlisted candidates will face the interview panel tomorrow at the Kenya School of Government.

But who are the candidates seeking to be the next DCI boss?

After conclusion of the interviews, NPSC will forward three names to President William Ruto who will appoint the next DCI boss.

Other senior officers who applied but did not make it to the shortlist include former Police Spokesman Jaspher Ombati, John Gachomo (director of investigations at DCI), Bruno Shiosho (police spokesman), Dr Hamisi Massa (currently acting DCI boss), Charles Owino (director, Kenya National Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons) and King'ori Mwangi, who is currently attached to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Besides police officers, seasoned lawyers and civil society members are among those who had applied for the position.
