Yoweri Museveni, the President of Uganda, on Tuesday, September 13, said he watches KTN News, especially when he wants to catch up with Kenya-related news.

Museveni, who spoke at the Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani in Nairobi during William Ruto's inauguration as Kenya's fifth president, said he isn't a big fan of watching television, but when need arises, he switches to KTN News to catch up with Kenyan news.

"Normally, I don't watch television stations in the neighbouring countries. But whenever there are elections in those countries, such as Tanzania and most recently Kenya, I certainly watch their television channels.

"I scanned through the various Kenyan television stations [in the run-up to the August 9, 2022 General Election], and [my eyes stuck on] KTN News. They had a programme called Kivumbi 2022," said Museveni.

Economic and political welfare

The president said he was impressed by the issues that the guests spoke about, especially on improving Kenya's economic and political welfare. He was also impressed by the moderation of the show.

Museveni, however, wished the guests could speak more on regional issues, especially integration of the East African Community, trade, food security, regional stability and immigration.

It's a challenge that KTN News accepts, and through its Africa Speaks programme, there will be more and more regional-related news and interviews done comprehensively.

Africa Speaks airs every Monday to Friday between 3pm and 4pm.
