Europa League play-off draw results, and why Arsenal are absent


Barcelona and Manchester United headlined the Europa League play-off draw on Monday where the two giants of European football will go head to head in the New Year over two legs for the right to join the likes of Arsenal in the last-16 of the continent’s secondary club competition.

Manchester United will face off against Xavi Hernandez's star-studded side in February for a place in the last 16,thereafter fans will be eager to find out who the likes of Man United, Barcelona and Juventus get as they are who Arsenal will face in the next stage of the competition. 

Gunners won their group so are through to the next stage of the competition and will have to wait until the draw for the next round on February 24 to find out their opponents. 

Barca were eliminated from the Champions League group stage to drop into the Europa League for the second season running, while United came second in their Europa League group.
