Africa's fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala powered to victory in men's 100m as the crowd that included President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga roared in jubilation at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.
The Commonwealth Games champion clocked 9.84 seconds to beat a rich field composed of Olympic silver medalist Kenneth Bednarek of USA, Olympic 4x100m silver medalist Jerome Blake of Canada among others.
Bednarek took second place in a season best of 9.98 as World 100m silver medallist Marvin Bracy-Williams settled third in a season best 10.03.
"Winning at home is so sweet and I'm now eyeing the next assignment which is the Rabat diamond league which I know will be tough but I will do my best," said Omanyala.
Last week, Omanyala set a new African and State record in the men's 150m at the Atlanta City Games in Georgia, United States of America.
The African record has stood for 30 years. He clocked 14.89 seconds behind race winner Noah Lyles (14.56) and Erriyon Knighton (14.85).
