Ulinzi Stars, Tusker survive scare to reach FKF Cup quarters

Tusker came from 2-0 down at half time to edge out Rainbow 3-2 in a five-goal thriller Football Kenya Fedration (FKF) Cup match at Kasarani Annex on Saturday.

Stewart Omondi, Shaphan Siwa and Eric Zakayo made sure the brewers turned around their poor first half to glide into the quarterfinals.

Edward Omondi gave Rainbow the lead inside the opening five minutes before Salim Murunga doubled the scores in the 12th minute as the lower tier side took a shocking 2-0 half time lead against the FKF Premier League defending champions.

Stewart Omondi begun Tusker's revival after converting a rebound off a saved penalty in the 60th minute.

Nine minutes later, Siwa headed Lewis's cross from the edge of the six-yard box before Eric Otieno thumping header from a Mike Oduor corner in the 89th minute sealed the win.

Ulinzi Stars also came from behind to bundle Kenya Police out of the FKF Cup following a 2-1 victory at the Police Sacco Stadium.

Police had taken a narrow 1-0 halftime lead after Elvis Rupia scored the spot.

In the final half, Boniface Muchiri inspired the comeback also from the spot before super sub Alex Masinde score dthe winner late in stoppage time.

Elsewhere, Sunday Ikekai and Rody Manga struck for Sofapaka who edged out National Super League side Darajani Gogo 2-1. Rashid Moyo scored Gogo'sd consolation goal.

The winners of the FKF Cup will represent Kenya in next season's Caf Confederation Cup.
