A city-based tout has been arraigned before Makadara law courts after he was accused of biting a driver who later lost control of the car and landed in a ditch.
The accused person, Javas Mutwiri Gitonga, according to court documents assaulted Simon Ndungu Kinyanjui on October 27, at Utawala area in Embakasi occasioning him actual bodily harm.
On the mentioned date at about 10 pm, Kinyanjui, a driver with the Eastern Links, was coming from Ruiru-Thika road stage en route to the Cabanas area when he made a stopover at Ruai overpass to drop a passenger.
That was when the accused demanded Sh20 from the matatu, which the conductor gave him.
The tout boarded the same matatu up to Utawala stage. The accused then went to the driver's side, got hold of him by the head before grabbing his left hand and biting his finger.
As a result, the driver hit the stone and the matatu landed in a ditch.
The angry passengers restrained the tout before frogmarching him to Embakasi police station where the charge of assault against him was made.
He has since been released on a cash bail of Sh50,000 pending hearing on 14 March 2023.
