Daughter’s secret body piercings revealed to mom by x-ray

Sydney Allen went to hospital for a routine check-up when her secret piercings were projected onto the computer screen in front of her mum

Some parents are more conservative than others when it comes to piercings and tattoos, which means some youngsters decide to keep theirs on the down low.

One mum discovered her daughter had been hiding two piercings from her, and only realised after her she accompanied her to hospital for a routine X-ray for her syringomyelia - a rare condition that can build up spinal fluid in the spinal cord.

Sydney Allen, 20, from Florida quietly had both her nipples pierced in the summer as a birthday gift from her sister, thinking they would be easy to hide.

When doctors X-rayed her spine, projecting the results onto the computer screen in front of her mum, family drama unfolded.

"My mom saw my piercings as soon as the X-ray popped up and the doctor and I started laughing hysterically," Sydney told Buzz feed.

She said her mum silently stared at the metal rods projected on the computer screen, and then said ominously: "We will discuss this later."

"She was visibly upset," Sydney added.

"Since I don't usually have my shirt off I thought it would be a very easy secret to keep."

Sydney tweeted a photo of her X-ray, captioned: "My mom found out I got my nipples pierced today".

The post has since been shared over 38,000 times and had hundreds of comments from people who think the X-ray incident is hilarious.

One wrote: "HAHAHAHHAH this is my worst fear dude".

Another said: "I'm crying omg Syd".

Several people said X-rays have revealed their secret piercings to their family too - so Sydney isn't alone.

Thankfully, Sydney's mum can now see the funny side of the hospital incident and was understanding about it after her initial shock.

Sydney told Buzz feed: "The picture does make her laugh now".
