Candidates aligned to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) presidential candidates Ambrose Rachier and Nick Mwendwa swept the board in the two Central Rift sub-branches’ elections held in Nakuru and Kabarnet on Tuesday.

Mwendwa’s Team Change won most seats in the Nakuru sub-branch elections and Rachier’s camp dominated in Baringo sub-branches.

James Kinyanjui was elected unopposed as the Nakuru sub-branch chairman, while Abdalla Ali retained the chairmanship in the Baringo sub-branch elections.

David Mwangi Mbugua was elected vice chairman and Eliakim Mbalilwa the secretary. All were elected unopposed.

Also elected unopposed were treasurer Francis Kweyu and assistant treasurer Maurice Onyango, leaving only three seats up for grabs, in which Francis Kiarie Njoroge defeated Robert Maeri 63-11 to go in as assistant secretary. Rhoda Wairimu Mahani beat veteran Asha Mambo Omar 45-28 to be the women’s representative as Stephen Juma Hodari polled 55-17 to win the youth representive seat against Paul Maina Mwangi.

In Baringo sub-branch, Ali (Abdalla) trounced David Chemasmas 12-9 to be re-elected chairman. Samuel Toweet is the vice chairman after he beat Joseph Lokorio 12-8, while Bernard Koech is the new treasurer. The assistant treasurer is Philip Chebon who defeated John Limo 13-8.

Cherutich Sadiki beat Rhoda Limo 17-4 to become the women’s representative.

Meanwhile FKF Elections Appeals Board has upheld petitions from several sub-branches over missing clubs from the voters register. The Board concluded that the prayers by Eng. Philip Owoti (Nyanza), Samuel Nyanga and Ibrahim Njuki (Eastern) have merit.

“As regards with prayer (b) FKF Elections Board is directed to adopt the lists provided by the chairman and secretary of the Branch without prejudice to the Board’s power to verify and make any modifications, that might be necessary in the circumstance.”

Stephen Ochiel’s petition over Bondo and Nyando Sub branches was however thrown out for lack of merit.

“We have come to conclusion that Petition 3 of 2015 presented by Stephen Ochiel lacks merit and the same is dismissed with cost to FKF,” the Appeals Board ruling reads.
