Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League clubs, which have protested the promotion of Kakamega Homeboyz and Posta Rangers, have to wait until January 12 before the matter is heard by the Sports Tribunal.

The matter was pushed to next year after FKF lawyer argued that the tribunal does not have jurisdiction to listen to the matter.

According to GMT Ottieno, a member of the tribunal, both parties have been invited to turn up for hearing on January 12.

“FKF raised objection as to whether we have jurisdiction to listen to the matter and we have to go back and consider the same,” said Ottieno.

Ken Ochieng, the chairman of Zoo Kericho, one of the two clubs which have filed the case at the tribunal, said more teams will be enjoined in the case.

“FKF raised objection over the jurisdiction of the tribunal and our argument was that since the matter is between clubs and federation then only the tribunal can decide on the way forward. Furthermore, other clubs have also shown interest to be enjoined in the case,” he said.

Clubs which want to be enjoined are Kariobangi Sharks, Oserian and St. Joseph.

In the meantime Rangers chairman John Tonui has defended his team against any wrong doing, insisting that his club was rightly promoted.

“We played all our matches as planned and deserve to be promoted. Furthermore, we will also seek to be enjoined in the matter because we are an interested party,” he announced.

Yesterday, KPL Chief Executive Officer Jack Oguda defended his letter to Homeboyz and Rangers acknowledging the promotion of the two clubs.

Oguda said the promotion of the two will be dependent on a ruling of the Sports Tribunal.

Elsewhere, Muhoroni Youth chairman Moses Adagala says goalkeeper Farouk Shikhalo will stay at the club for another season.

Shikhalo was on loan at the club from Tusker where he had a great performance and was named second runners-up in the goalkeeper of the year category.

“He will stay here for another season and we hope he can do even better next year,” he added.

Adagala also revealed that the team will sign five new players as send another two on loan.
