Manchester United lose to Bournemouth and the internet gives them the trolling of a lifetime

After watching their team tumble out of the Champions League in the midweek, Manchester United fans could be forgiven for thinking Louis van Gaal's men had reached their lowest ebb.

Though their European dream was dead for another season, at least they only had Bournemouth to contend with on the weekend. Nabbing three points from the South Coast minnows was to provide the club with a perfect opportunity to launch their Premier League title tilt proper.

Unfortunately for United fans, The Cherries had other plans. Eddie Howe's side have defied the odds and claimed a famous victory over The Red Devils.

Cue a vast outpouring of hilarity on Twitter.

It's rare that we see trolling quite this intense - neither the fans nor the players have been spared here. However, by far and away the most brutal banter has been reserved for United's manager. The pressure on Van Gaal will only soar after this, and the internet wants to be first to get the digs in. Accordingly...

Some reckon Van Gaal is out of ideas at the moment...

Others feel he's struggling to move the team forward...

Some think he's failed to spend wisely...

Some think the fans have lost faith in him...

And that they'll take some time to recover...

What can we say, United supporters? The worst may well be yet to come.

All we know for sure is that your rivals will be crowing over this result for some time to come. Sad times.
