A wife who came home to find a naked teenager tied up in her front room has told a court: “I knew our marriage was in trouble when I found an 18-year-old man naked and bound.”

Joanne O’Connor was giving evidence at the trial of her radio DJ husband John, known as Ian Young, who was accused of attacking her.

She described how she came home early from work one afternoon and let herself into their house.

Joanne, 48, told Kilmarnock Sheriff Court: “I knew our marriage was in trouble when I found an 18-year-old man naked and bound in the living room.”

She went on to reveal that former Irvine Beat FM DJ Young smashed his vast collection of music CDs in the following row, the Daily Record reports.

Young, of Kilwinning, Ayrshire, denied assaulting and injuring Joanne by grabbing her hair and chest in the town in November 2014.

Young, 49, said he came out as gay after the incident.

He claimed his wife accused him of being a paedophile.

Sheriff Brian Murphy found Young guilty of assault and fined him Sh40,500.

The court heard Young’s job with North Ayrshire Council could now be at risk.
