The troubled east African Portland cement company is likely to resume
operations tomorrow after officials from treasury and the ministry of
industrialization met at the prime minister's office to ease the tension
that has threatened to stall production at the cement firm. Workers at
the Athi river firm have abandoned their duties protesting at the
decision of the courts to temporarily reinstate Kepha Tande as a
managing director weeks after he was suspended by the ministry of
industrialization for alleged corruption.
