One of my favourite things to do during the Christmas holidays is to decorate the house. I love the whole process: deciding on the colour scheme, what to put where and the actual decorating.
Just because you have a small space doesn’t mean you can’t decorate for Christmas. With a little creativity you can turn your home into a festive paradise.
1. Make use of the walls and ceiling
If you don’t have much floor space, think about decorating your walls and ceiling. You can hang stars or snowflakes from the ceiling. Hang a wreath on a wall or create a wall hanging out of baubles which you can hang from picture hooks.
2. Swap out photos in for Christmas cards
Christmas time is the best way to switch up your home decor. Mix it up by removing photos from their frames and swapping them with Christmas cards or festive wrapping paper. This is an easy and affordable way to add a festive flair to your home without cluttering it.
3. Line your walls with fairy lights
There’s nothing as festive as fairy lights. Line your walls with as many lights as you can. If seeing your entire bedroom or living room covered in lights doesn’t appeal to you, use them on one wall or along a window.
4. Don’t forget your shelves
There’s so much you can do with your shelves during the festive season. Get a few Christmas-centred knick knacks and arrange them on open shelves. Put some baubles in a bowl and display them on top of a shelf. Make mini garlands which you hang from the cupboard doors.
5. Make a table centrepiece
Decorating your table with a centrepiece is a simple way to add a festive touch to your home decor. Make a simple wreath with some tinsel and put some candles in the centre. You can also put baubles in a nice bowl and use this as a centrepiece. In this way you can decorate your home without adding too much to an already crowded space.
6. Get a small Christmas tree
You don’t need to give up on getting a Christmas tree because you live in a small space. Get a small tree and have fun decorating it. If you have little floor space, consider putting the tree in the corner of a table where it can be on display.
