Vacation season is an exciting time to look forward to. In fact, you can get so excited to a point where you forget to carry some of the most essential items.

I know I have.

Generally, we’re sometimes guilty of going overboard with the packing especially when it comes to outfit changes. We remember to pack clothes for two weeks while we’re actually just travelling for four days. Meanwhile, there are other important things we needed to ensure we have before leaving the house.

To avoid driving back home in panic, make sure you always have these top five items with you whenever you’re planning a holiday:

Power bank

Having a power bank is definitely one of the major items to have before you travel. It will keep your devices charged for the times you want to capture some amazing holiday moments, you can be able to make cashless payments with your phone and most importantly, it’s a safety essential.

Ensure that you have fully charged your power bank the night before and if you don’t have one or are struggling with a faulty one, it’s the right time to get a new one.

Travel documents

These should be the first things you organize whenever you’re travelling. Even when you’re doing a tour within the country, you should make sure you have your ID card, driving license and other important documents you might need.

Keep everything ready days before so that you don’t end up forgetting any essential document at home.

Medication

This is also at the top of the list of things you can’t afford to forget. If you’re on medication temporarily, you shouldn’t skip a day and if you need to have specific medicine due to an underlying illness, you might need carry your medicine during your trip.

To make things easier, you can buy an organizer kit where you can arrange your medication for each day of the week.

Something else you might need are painkillers. You or someone else might need them at one point especially after long nights of partying. Stomach problems are also common during travel. You therefore want to make sure you also have medicine for general digestion troubles.

Sunscreen

Going on holiday doesn’t mean that your skincare needs are on a holiday break as well. In fact, a few days frying under the sun on vacation can do some serious damage and take you many steps back if you had made some progress with your skin.

You might want to let your skin breathe by skipping on the makeup but don’t make a mistake of leaving your sunscreen behind.

Toothpaste

Forgetting some toothpaste can quickly kill your vibe when you’re on holiday. You will be self-conscious if you walk around with stale breath and it might force you to squeeze some time in to rush to a supermarket.

Since not all hotels offer toothpaste and you probably won’t get any in an Airbnb, you should just carry a small tube for yourself. You might even be more comfortable using a specific medicated toothpaste you have which is why you shouldn’t forget to bring it with you.

Also, remember to carry your dental floss with you and some mouthwash to keep your teeth happy.
