#WCW: Regina King, making waves on the screen

Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential People in the world of 2019 and we can see why. Regina King is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Her numerous roles through the years have seen her gain recognition from fans and peers alike. From shows like Living Single and American Crime to movie appearances in the likes of Watchmen, Seven Seconds, and some of our childhood favourites like Daddy Day Care, A Cinderella Story and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous.

King was one of three Black women to win at the 2020 Emmy Awards. This was her fourth win at the Emmys making her the only African-American to win as many awards. She has also taken home an Academy Award as the Best Supporting Actress for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk. She has also taken home a Golden Globe Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Motion Picture in the film Ray. She has also won a BET Award, Critics’ Choice Award, among many others.

More recently, the divorced mother of one stunned the internet with her eye-catching Emmys outfit. And this isn’t a one off. King has severally made heads turn with her fashion sense, making every Black girl want to be her when they grow up, including us!
