A woman has shared photos of the black eye she got after headbutting the best man on her wedding night.

Katie Barrier accidentally whacked the integral part of the wedding while on the dancefloor.

The smack left her with serious bruising on her face and a very swollen cheek.

Now able to see the funny side of the affair, Katie has taken to TikTok to share the less than perfect end to her big day.

She said: "So people keep asking how I received a black eye on my wedding night.

"It's simple really - a ton of alcohol, a wild wedding party and a husband who thinks he's Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing."

The clash of heads came when Katie's husband went to pick up her maid of honour, echoing the film's most famous scene.

Fearful that her best pal was going to go toppling to the floor, Katie rushed over the save her.

At the exact same moment the best man had the same idea, rushing towards the toppling dancers.

In their eagerness to help they ended up smashing into each other.

In her video Katie shows a video of herself lying on a pew, with a bridesmaid placing ice on her face.

In the clip she yells: "It's not that bad."

It transpires that it was quite bad.

Katie arrived at the airport to jet off on her honeymoon the next day with a hefty shiner surrounding her right eye.

She had to reassure airport staff that she was okay and the simple victim of overly-exuberant dancing.

For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
