BRIDE: Amina Hatim Adamali
GROOM: Abdallah Ali Kubo
GUESTS: 2,000
DATE: April 24, 2015
VENUE: Khumbhar Hall, Mombasa
BUDGET: Sh1 million
FIRST DATE:
Amina: We met in 2012 during a youth fanfair organised by an Islamic radio station during Eid celebrations. There were some team-building activities and we happened to be in the same team.
Kubo: I was drawn by her beautiful smile and as they say, the rest is history.
THE PROPOSAL
Amina: He proposed on my birthday in February 2013. I had received birthday wishes from family and friends but I hadn’t heard a word from him. I waited all day for at least a phone-call. Finally at 8pm, he arrived with gifts.
Kubo: Accompanied by my friends and two of my relatives, I made a surprise visit to her home on her birthday. I offered her two gifts; a chocolate cake and an engagement ring!
THE DRAMA
Amina: The planning went smoothly. I enjoyed the shopping and blending theme the colours of our outfits.
Kubo: The most striking thing at the wedding was seeing the Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho and the County MPs Abdulwamad Nasir, Rashid Bedzimba and Omar Mwinyi praying with me at the mosque on the night of the wedding.
WITH HINDSIGHT
Amina: Just follow your heart. Never listen to people’s opinions or views about the person you date. Let people advice you but don’t let them make decisions for you...after all, it's your life and you know what is best for you. As for the wedding planning, remember all friends and relatives are valid.
Kubo: Always go for someone that you can’t live a day without... then you will find the reason marriage is important.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS
Amina: When I was walking down the aisle holding my hubby’s hand.
Kubo: When Amina was officially declared mine. The support from families and relatives in terms of gifts was great.
