Days can seem longer and nights a nightmare as staying in the house can really take a toll on you from cooking all day, washing and working on your computer. At the end of the day all you want is just to let go of all the pressure.

In order to achieve this you will need to do something out of your normal routine.

When you put your unwinding routine on your schedule as a must-do, it ceases to be your time to relax and becomes a task you must commit to.

You need to let everything go, in order to truly relax.

You can have your unwinding session every day or weekly, all depending on what you decide on as your ‘drug’.

Here are ways you can unwind and end your days:

Go for a walk or a run

Depending on what suits you best, you could go for an evening jog or walk. This will not only help you break monotony from the house but it will also help you live a healthy lifestyle.

This is because you spend all day and night sitting in the same space. A change from your normal routine can also help you keep a steady mind and take you away from the daily chaos of running the house and working from home.

You can do this while listening to your favourite playlist, you can relax both your body and mind.

Read a book

Sometimes the easiest way to unwind from a long day of work is by reading a book. Books allow you to get into other worlds without actually leaving the house.

A chapter or two from your favourite book genre can help you relax and take you away from your stressful day or hectic routine. In case you are an avid reader, you can read up to three books at a time to avoid getting bored from one book.

Another way is by having time with your book club members, to discuss books you have read. These sessions can be enlightening especially after a long day of work.

Watch a movie

This can actually be the best time to catch up on your favourite TV series or watch a long overdue movie you bucket-listed months back.

Watching movies are actually relaxing especially after you have had a long day of work and you just want to put it all behind you.

If you are not a fun of watching movies because of their long and complex plots, you can opt for sitcoms since they are shorter and do not require you to commit to a given storyline.

You can enjoy your favourite movie while downing a glass of wine or juice.

Play games

If you have a big family, this might be the perfect time to challenge them in your favourite board games.

Board games are fun, perky and give you a change of character while playing. They are simple and easy to crack, they don’t have to take all your time thinking.

You can also engage in outdoor games like hide and seek, as much as it may seem childish, it helps you slip into another dimension and enjoy yourself. You also get to engage your children and spend quality time with them.

In case you live alone, you can play games online or video call a friend and play some games like charades.

Go for a short drive

Staying in the same space every day, every time can be overwhelming, especially when it is not done voluntarily.

Taking a short drive away from your home will help you change scenery and this will help you relax and ultimately break the routine of staying in the house fulltime.

Children might also need a change of scenery, they also get bored in the house.

Take a short drive and breath in the fresh air, play your favourite songs on the car radio and sing along to the lyrics and come back to the house new.
