Prince Harry and Meghan are set to launch a well-being empire called Archewell, derived from the Greek word for “source of action” and the inspiration behind their son’s name, Archie.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are understood to be working on plans to run emotional support groups and even a multi-media educational empire.

The couple, who fled the UK to set up home in Canada before moving once more to Hollywood said on Monday night they wanted the organisation “to do something of meaning, to do something that matters”.

The Sussexes were forced to abandon their ambitious plans to launch a foundation under the name ‘Sussex Royal’ after the Queen banned them from using the term royal after they sensationally quit The Firm.

The Duke and Duchess told the Daily Telegraph : "Like you, our focus is on supporting efforts to tackle the global Covid-19 pandemic but faced with this information coming to light, we felt compelled to share the story of how this came to be.

“Before SussexRoyal, came the idea of ‘Arche’ - the Greek word meaning ‘source of action’.

“We connected to this concept for the charitable organisation we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name.

"To do something of meaning, to do something that matters.

“Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon.

"We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right."

The couple have reportedly previously considered variations on the name including Arche Foundation and Archeway.

Official documents seen by the newspaper give a fascinating insight into the ambitions of the Sussexes.

The couple have officially left behind plans to launch a charitable foundation in the UK in favour of an American “non-profit”.

Having emphasised their commitment to the Commonwealth and moved for a short while into a borrowed Canadian mansion, they are now living and working in Los Angeles.

According to paperwork filed in the United States last month, the couple are planning to create their own charity and volunteering services, wide-ranging website, and sharing “education and training materials” via films, podcasts and books.

Plans, which so far include trademark requests for everything from motion picture films to paperclips.

Sources suggest the plans are far more extensive than those originally intended under Sussex Royal in the UK - where they had also spent thousands of pounds trademarking hundreds of items from notepads to bandanas.

Meghan, 38, could build on her previously successful lifestyle blog called The Tig, with a “website featuring information in the field of nutrition, general health and mental health”, along with entertainment.

One section of the documents suggests they could build a website “in the field of nutrition, general health and mental health” along with coordinating counselling services and mental health therapy.

And there is the potential to self-publish articles, magazines, books, music, podcasts, television shows, and computer software.

A royal source said they were “excited” for the work to come.
