Hundreds of women have come to the defence of a husband who was called 'weird' and 'creepy' by his own wife after his 'nice' gesture backfired.

The man states that although he doesn't track his wife's period, they've been together long enough that he 'gets a sense of where it falls' each month.

Knowing she keeps her tampons in the bathroom cabinet next to the toilet paper, he noticed she only had one left.

"When I went shopping today I picked up a pack because her period is 'coming up'," he wrote on Reddit.

"Figured I’d be nice. Anyway when I got home and she saw them she got upset and said it was weird that I did it on my own and kind of creepy.

"Is this something men just aren’t supposed to do?

"I didn’t do it with any previous girlfriends but I also didn’t live with my previous girlfriends for eight years."

There wasn't a single reply agreeing with his wife's opinion that the gesture was creepy, as many said they would 'eternally grateful' to have someone as thoughtful.

One wrote: "What the hell - I’d be super appreciative.

"Especially since I’m the type to wait last minute to buy pads/tampons. Why that would be weird and creepy is beyond me..."

Another wrote: "As a woman I would be blown away and really impressed by this gesture.

"I’m guessing she grew up in a household where any men in the house were grossed out by the sight of tampons or pads and never touched them so she probably thinks that behaviour is normal even though it’s really not."

A third said: "You, sir, are a knight in armour and I’d be eternally grateful if my husband did this.

"Running out of tampons SUCKS, and for you to not only notice, but grab more?

"That’s parade-worthy, medal of honour, peace prize gesture."
