How to pick the perfect sperm donor in Kenya

Girl Talk

Back in the day, in most cases, when a man impregnated a woman out of wedlock, the story went something like this. The woman would become even closer to the man. And before he knew it, she would have moved into his house. The duo would then live together like husband and wife.

Of course, once in a while we had cases in which men would disappear in thin air after ‘accidentally’ impregnating a woman. Fast forward to 2017 when the script is now flipped. It’s women hunting down men for sperm! Basically, it’s has increasingly become common to see women connive and ‘rob’ unsuspecting men of their seed.

First, a woman checks around for a man who she perceives has perfect genes. She then proceeds to act like she is interested in him. She does everything a good girlfriend does, but once she gets pregnant, she vanishes! Yes, tables have now turned against men and they are now the victims. Today, all that some women want from men is a baby, not a husband.

Most of the expectant single women over thirty years of age you see around, especially in Nairobi, are pregnant on their own terms. It is the new trend. Of course, there is the way society still views single women.

It is, for instance, very okay and even admirable for a man to be a bachelor. But when a woman introduces herself as a single mother, people look at her with shock akin to what you might bestow upon a person admitting to murder.

But there’s a fine line between lacking knowledge and being downright mean spirited. Sometimes society often crosses this line on everything that it views as being different.

The issue of being a single mother by choice is one of them. There is this perception that every woman’s ambition is to get a husband, if not, something must be very wrong. Well, society, or whoever, can shove it where the sun doesn’t shine because whether people like it or not, this is happening. It’s a reality. It’s high time people stopped burying their heads in the sand, and faced the reality. Thing is most women are sick and tired of men.

I mean not every woman’s dream includes washing a grown man’s underwear and taking care of him as if he were a helpless baby. And don’t get me started on the emotional turmoil that comes with mpango wa kandos — a favourite plan for most married Kenyan men. Women have simply had enough of all the drama and baggage that comes with Kenyan men. Most have now opted to only seeking the sperm.

So how are this unsuspecting men picked? It’s an art, it’s not just about picking any random Tom, Dick or Harry. Character traits that are considered include: Height, looks, career and academic achievement. The other factors include tribe, body type, life expectancy-by looking at parents, disease in the family, age, virility and list goes on.

I understand that this must be obviously toe-curling for most men, watching woman evolve from ‘needing a man’, to ‘only needing a great sperm’, must be unnerving, but such is the way of the world today!
