Njia ward MCA Eunice Karema , the only female candidate in the 2013 poll in Igembe Central region, beat the men while contesting on a Safina party ticket.
But this time around, there are 20 MCA candidates and once again she is the only female contestant.
She says she is not fazed by her 19 opponents and is sure to emerge victorious because of what she has achieved during her term.
After losing to Bernard Micubu in the Jubilee Party nominations, Karema decamped to Mazingira Greens Party.
"I felt the Jubilee nominations were not transparent and I refused to accept the outcome and sought an alternative party," said Karema.
But Karema credits her 2013 win partly to Deputy President William Ruto, who she said tilted the scales in her favour in the last days of the election. [ Phares Mutembei]
