How to condition your hair correctly

Hair

Conditioning your hair regularly will keep it healthy and beautiful. You could, however, be using a conditioner all the time but doing it the wrong way. It is possible to use your conditioner to its best advantage. So what are the best tips and secrets on conditioning your hair for the greatest results?

Consider your hair type: Each woman has a different type of hair and, as such, one needs to consider their hair texture, dryness, length, thickness, and level of damage when using any product. Ask your hairdresser to recommend the right conditioner for your hair. Read the label directions on your conditioner carefully. Ensure you always use a conditioner suited to your hair type.

Proper application: For proper application, massage conditioner in your hands first to warm it up and activate the beneficial ingredients. Start the application at the tips where the hair is driest, oldest and most damaged and then work your way down. Avoid applying conditioner directly to your roots as they get the most of your natural hair oils.

Work in evenly: Always work the conditioner throughout your hair using your fingers. Use a wide tooth comb so that the conditioner is evenly distributed, especially if your hair is thick. Combing the conditioner through is important so that the product reaches all of your hair. Conditioning is also the easiest way to detangle.

Proper rinsing: Rinse your shampoo and conditioner properly with cool water so that your hair follicles do not get clogged. Build-up along the scalp and dull hair is also as a result of poor rinsing. A few extra minutes spent in rinsing the hair is worth the while. It is wise to give the conditioner time to work magic on your hair. As such, do not rinse out the conditioner immediately; let it sit in so that it penetrates the cuticles.

Never skip conditioner: Never skip a conditioner when you shampoo your hair. Also remember to use the right shampoo for your type pf hair. If you have coarse and dry hair, deep condition your hair at least once a week.
