beyoncefitLosing weight is a challenge to most of us. This can be due to the fact that most times, it is done wrong and in an unhealthy way.Here are healthy tips to help in the weight loss journey.

Eat less: Most of the excess weight we carry around is equivalent to the excess foods we tend to eat. When having meals, avoid filling the plate. Using a small plate gives your stomach the illusion that you have eaten a large portion. It is advisable to stop eating after feeling full as opposed to clearing everything in the menu. Put some away leftovers to eat later or include in another dish.

Diet: Fruits and vegetables are ideally the best foods to help in filling the tummy while at the same time help in avoiding excessive weight gain. Include a large portion of these on the plate, preferably half the plate. The other half can include carbohydrates and proteins. Have a large portions of healthy food for breakfast, medium for lunch and light for dinner.

Snacking: Snacking is great but choose healthy snacks as opposed to those high in fats, salts and sugar. A good example can be nuts, carrots, berries or even a fruit salad. Avoid crisps, cakes or ice-cream or have them in small quantities if a must. To help keep the weight off, avoid snacking before bedtime.

Exercise: Simple exercise can be extremely helpful to help in weight loss. Opt to use stairs as opposed to lifts. Walk, run or even skip. Skipping helps to burn fats quickly. 30 minutes of daily exercise is advisable. Sweat it out and get your heart rate up to help burn calories.

Diary: Maintain a diary of the foods taken and of the exercises done. It is important to monitor what you do, this will help in maintaining the commitment to healthy weight loss. Include weight loss ideas picked or learned, as well as healthy recipes. Go through the diary often.

Stock healthy foods: These are unhealthy but delicious foods we all find tempting. They can range from ice cream to cake. These foods should be kept out of the home. Stock healthy alternatives in the fridge, this way, anytime hunger strikes, then there is something healthy waiting in the fridge.
