Work and passion
The old adage “find something you love and you will never work a day in your life” holds true. Whichever area you are in, the fast career track or business, there are times when you will hit unprecedented lows. Work will get stressful, difficult decisions will need to be made and life will get hectic. If what you do is based on genuine interest, then all the late nights and stressful scenarios are all worth it; otherwise, it will feel as if you’re continuously having the soul sucked out of you. However, it is important that passion be a blend of what you can do well and what you enjoy doing. Once you have undertaken an audit of your special blend of skills, talents and capabilities, then you can start taking stock of and seeking opportunities that allow for these to be utilised best.
Be bold
Rarely do great things come out of mediocre actions. In most cases, you have to be bold to create your dreams. When an opportunity arises that makes you think “that sounds like what I’ve been yearning for”, take the leap and believe in your abilities to deliver. If you take too much time doubting yourself and hesitating, someone else will snatch it up and you will never know what could have been. Endeavour to grow by stretching your capabilities in ways you hadn’t considered before. Instead of asking “‘why me?” get into the habit of asking “why not me?”

Once you find an opening to use your unique talent, use it without reservation and learn from people who you admire, and those who can mentor you. And if you do not find an opportunity that matches your passion, consider creating it yourself. Who knows, you may end up being a trailblazer.
