As lovers schmooze and spend time saying sweet nothings this Valentine’s, a petal here and some anthers there may grace those intense moments. A gift of flowers is a non-verbal way of communication between lovers. You may have noticed that flowers don’t just come during Valentine’s but even at other times when he needs to say, “I am sorry.”
When men give flowers on Valentine’s Day, according to Marie Claire magazine, he is communicating one or all of these:
Red roses: These represent love. Red roses are a way of acknowledging that he loves you even though he didn’t put much thought into what to get for you.
Burgundy roses: They communicate unconscious beauty that you posses, like: “I can’t see your beauty because it’s deep inside you beyond your skin.”
Sunflower: The wide opened sunflower indicates that there is very little to hide. Sunflowers follow the sun; they indicate pure and lofty thoughts.
Yellow tulips: “Please, please be with me. Please.” Yellow tulips say that someone loves you immensely. They have fallen hopelessly in love with you and are eager to spend Valentine’s with you.
Pink carnations: Pink is subtle to the eyes. It is associated with motherly love. What he may be communicating is that as much as he loves you romantically, you have some qualities (good) that he has seen in his mother.
Yellow roses: These are representative of a mixture of several emotions: joy, friendship, apology, jealousy, dying love, infidelity and heartbreak. He may be saying, “I have no idea what I’m trying to say, but I love you.”
