Make this Valentine's extra special

It’s important on Valentine’s Day to apply the triple ‘A’ principle — appreciate, affirm and acknowledge your partner. Although we all agree that love ought to be expressed and experienced 365 days a year, this is one opportunity for you to join others in expressing love.

It is a good time to do something unique, and say, “I love you”, in many different ways without feeling awkward. After all, this is what is expected of you during this season. If the three words are a mouthful for you, how about using your own language? After all, actions speak louder than words. 

James’s expression of love is shopping for the household and bringing home a few kilos of meat. For Mike, expressing love is taking time away and allowing his wife time to exhale. For John, expressing love is spending quality time with her at home, closing the world behind him.  Regardless of how you express love, make this Valentine’s Day memorable and special, just for her.

Create lasting romantic memories. Memories of the romantic stage of relationships live longer after the relationship is over. Guys, this is a good place to begin.  Remember what you did at the beginning of your relationship, like sending her flowers, the dinners and the dates.

Valentine’s Day is the time to turn the clock. Do something you know will awaken the memories of those good old days. You can look up some pictures depicting great memories and simply send her an email, reminding her how special that was and how it still means the world to you.
