What irks me

Living

What type of car do you drive?

A 2006 Grey Mazda MPV.

What girly stuff do you carry in your car?

Packed food because I do not like the idea of eating out. I also carry drinking water, make-up kit, clothes, shoes and my baby’s stroller. My car is clearly my second house.

What do you love about your car?

The fact that it is spacious and practical.

Which animal are you on the road? A cheetah or a tortoise?

Definitely a cheetah. I love speed that matches my personality. I hate wasting time.

What car are you eyeing?

The Range Rover Sport is a good car to bully people on the road with. I also have my eyes on the chic two-door convertible BMW.

What is your dream car?

The 2015 Subaru WRX for obvious reasons; it is a rally beast.

If you were stranded on a highway with a flat tyre, what would you do to get help?

I would call AA or flag down a male motorist to help me change it as a look from a distance, or leave him at it only to return when he is done.

Approximately how much do you spend on your car per month?

I recently had it revamped, a process that set me back by Sh50,000. I usually spend about Sh12,000 on fuel.

If you had the privilege of a siren on your car, what outrageous thing would you do?

I would use that power to sail through traffic. In fact, I would ensure I use the busiest roads just to see motorists pave way.

What additions have you made to your car to make it unique?

I have installed a Bluetooth mirror that allows me to pick up my phone, mitigating the chances of being caught by police while on phone. I also have another mirror that I use to check on my girl when she is seated on the back seat.

What do you do to kill time while in traffic?

If it is in the morning, I do my make-up because I usually don’t have time to do it in the house. After that, I chat away on Whatsapp, take care of business or do my music practice.

What song do you get carried away listening to in your car?

Any song by Konshens will do the trick. Other than that, I would be dancing along to Khona by Mafikizolo.

What is the worst driving experience you have had?

Once while in Murang’a, a police pulled me over trying to squeeze a bribe out of me by insinuating that my license had not been stamped; a criminal offense that I had never heard off. After a long chat, he ended up giving me Sh500 after I convinced him that I did not even have cash to get me back to Nairobi.

What habit would you never tolerate from passengers you carry in your car?

I cannot stand people who trash my car. It is for this reason I always have a trash paper in the car. I also do not like people who insist on talking loudly or passengers who tell me to change the music I am listening to.
