Fashion Tips

“Heels are like a beauty lift”, said a very wise person. They are the perfect accessory for every woman. High heels give you a confidence boost and can take your look from a 2 to a 10.  Although they’re gorgeous and have an elegant feel to them, they’re not the easiest thing to walk in.

Many of us find ourselves admiring a certain pair of heels from a distance because we can barely balance in them for more than five minutes. Nonetheless, with these few tips, you can learn how to be a heel pro and rival a runway model. Take notes.

Start with a comfortable pair

While learning to walk in heels, don’t start with the stilettos right away. They’ll quickly discourage you because they’re considered to be one of the most difficult heels to walk in. It’s best to start with options like low pumps, wedges, and kitten heels as you gradually work your way up. This way, you will learn how to balance and know how high or low you are comfortable going when it comes to the number of inches.

Always walk heel-to-toe

The heel-to-toe technique is always the best way to walk in heels. It gives you balance and prevents you from falling over. Otherwise, trying to walk toe-to-heel will make things harder and very uncomfortable.

Practice the stair walk

Learning how to walk on stairs in heels also needs a certain technique. When walking up a set of steps, you’ll need to put most of the pressure at the front part of your foot or at the balls of your feet.

When walking down the steps, maintain balance by firmly placing your feet fully on each step. Whether you’re going up or down the stairs, always maintain support by walking slowly and holding the rails if there are any.

One of the secrets of walking comfortably in heels for a long period of time is to take small steps. It’s easy to get tired when walking in heels and it can be quite dreadful, especially if you don’t have some comfortable shoes to change into. Small steps will give the appearance of elegance and you won’t have to worry about sweating.

Use extra support

Insoles and extra padding are the ultimate hacks for walking in heels. They can turn even the most uncomfortable heels into the pair you love to walk in. There are gel insoles you can purchase or other types of extra padding that will give you the support you need and prevent sore feet as well.

Work on your posture

Your posture makes a huge difference when it comes to walking in heels. Maintaining an upright posture will evenly distribute your weight and give you balance when walking. Try and avoid slanting your arch and always straighten your neck and back because this is good for your spine too.

Stick to a comfortable pair

Not all heel designs work for everybody. I’m actually convinced that some should be left of the trend because they’re way too high to walk in. Always try and master what your feet love and get a pair that give you the most support. At the end of the day, it’s never that serious really.
