Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Monday took to social media to celebrate the KCSE results of his adopted son Gift Osinya who schooled at Lenana.
You might remember Osinya’s story back in 2014 when terrorists attacked a church in Likoni, robbing him and his brother Satrine of their mother.
Fast-forward to 2021, Sonko was elated as he announced that Gift had scored B- in KCSE, admitting that he has seen God’s miracles in the boy’s life.
“After scoring an impressive 399 marks in KCPE four years ago, he proceeded to Lenana School in Nairobi for his secondary education where he has made us proud again by scoring an impressive B - (minus) in his KCSE.
“Even though as a family we were expecting an A from him, we thank God for his good grades that now guarantee him a place in one of the public universities where he can pursue the career of his dreams,” wrote Sonko.
Adding: “On behalf of my family especially my beloved wife Primrose, I wish to thank you all for the continued support and prayers, and invite you to join us as a family in celebrating the achievements of our son, while thanking God for his mercies upon his life.”
According to Sonko's family, Gift has shown exemplary interest in the legal field, presumably because of his guardian's run-ins with the law. "He wants to practice law or become a judge,” said Sonko in a recent interview.
“This, he has always declared and we will ensure he pursues it to the highest level. All my adopted children are mine legally and I will ensure they get to the highest level of education achievable to them under a fund I have set aside for them,” he remarked.
Characterised by a quiet persona, Gift has always displayed leadership qualities perhaps because he was tasked with looking after his sibling after the terrorizing morning with extremists.
According to Sonko, Gift is incredibly talented in social debates which he easily wins during friendly family banter.
