Hundreds of former Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) casual workers who were laid off in 2009 converged at Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa on Saturday to plead with the Government to order their reinstatement.
They said they should be given priority following reports that KPA was in the process of hiring 189 new temporary staff.
Through their spokesman, Joseph Ayoro, the workers lamented that their services had been terminated without any compelling reason, adding that despite reaching out to local leaders as well as the Ombudsman to address their plight, their efforts had come to naught.
