Hundreds of residents affected by floods in Langa'ta, Nairobi, yesterday got aid from some leaders and charitable organisations, including the Child Welfare Association.

Area MP Nixon Korir led the mission at Highrise, where he and others donated foodstuff, books and bedding.

"Most of them work in the informal sector, including bars and hotels, which has been hit hard. Covid-19 pandemic rendered them jobless, so if you add to being affected by floods, you realise that they have gone through a difficult period," said Korir.

He said the partners pulled resources that have benefited more than 1,000 families. For the last one month, there has been frequent flooding, destroying the properties of thousands of people in the city. Ten deaths were also reported.
