Strathmore University has signed a partnership with a US data storage and cloud computing firm EMC that will see the two institutions collaborate on various issues of technical know-how, tools and resources.

Strathmore University Dir­ector of the @iLabAfrica Research Centre Dr Joseph Sevilla and EMC Gen­eral Man­ager Said Rechchad signed the pact. Mr Rechchad said the development will advance Strathmore University’s training edge in cloud computing, information security, technology and data science in sub-Saharan Africa.

“EMC has noted the high accomplishment by Strathmore University in delivering peerless technology and innovation training,” said Rechchad.

“We have committed to deliver to them access to training resources and information in data storage, information security and cloud computing to help them impart recent skills to their students and help meet international IT skills demand in the region.”

Under the pact, Strathmore University’s @ iLabAfrica Research Centre will access tools for big data analytics, information on data storage management and the latest research and training materials from EMC on cloud infrastructure and Data Science.

Strathmore will use these to introduce new courses aided by access to EMC’s VMWare IT Academy.
