Former PS Edward Sambili among finalists to head Central Bank of Kenya

A former Permanent Secretary is among the big names shortlisted to succeed Prof Njuguna Ndung’u as the head the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).

Former Planning Ministry Permanent Secretary Edward Sambili, CBK’s Deputy Governor Haron Sirima and a top official at the National Treasury Geoffrey Mwau, are among five candidates shortlisted by the Public Service Commission to succeed Prof Ndung’u.

According to the commission’s website, Sirima, Patrick Njoroge, Sambili, Penina Kariuki and Geoffrey Mwau (Economic Secretary) will be competing for the plum position of governor.

At the same time, five others Bernard Mbui Wagacha (present chairperson), Benson Ateng’, Nicholas Korir, Jairus Mohammed Nyaoga, will also undergo interviews at the commission House on April 7, to fill the position of chairperson.

“The following candidates were shortlisted for the posts of governor and chairperson and are therefore, invited for interviews, which will be conducted next month,” read the communication.
