KHRC accuses Big Three of abuse of office

President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga have been accused of abuse of office during the on going campaigns for the Proposed Constitution.

In a report released by the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KNCHR), VP Kalonzo Musyoka, Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura and the ‘No’ team flag bearer William Ruto have also been implicated.

"Kibaki dished out three new districts and also announced that he would be elevating the Garissa Teachers Training College to a public university. This is an obvious attempt to woo voters," read the report.

KHRC acting Programmes Co-ordinator Tom Kagwe explained the big wigs had flouted Public Officers Ethics Act, which outlaws public officers from engaging in activities that may compromise or be seen to compromise the political neutrality of their office. "The PM instructed 40 PSs to publicly support the draft. Ruto pledged to give lecturers pay increase while Kalonzo promised to give Sh1 million to residents who cast the most votes in Ukambani," said Kagwe.
