United Democratic Alliance members eyeing various nomination slots have until tomorrow to submit their applications.

This follows an extension of the party list nomination in the 47 county assemblies, 12 members of National Assembly and 20 slots in the Senate, by Deputy President William Ruto's party. UDA National Election Board Chairman Anthony Mwaura said those seeking MCA slots will pay Sh10,000 while other positions will attract Sh20,000 non-refundable fee for consideration.

Mr Mwaura noted that the 12 National Assembly slots are to represent the youth, workers and people living with disabilities while the Senate list is for 16 women, two youth of both genders and two people living with disabilities for both genders.

“Those interested should submit a duly filed application form available on the UDA online portal, copy of national identity card or passport, a detailed CV, police clearance certificate, KRA tax compliance certificate and certified copies of academic certificates,” he said.

He said the party list nominees representing gender top up categories for each county assembly and also nominees representing marginalised groups for each county Assembly was required and urged UDA members to send their applications. Mwaura said applicants must also show evidence of active participation in party activities with testimonials and photographic evidence and any other relevant materials to show that they are committed to UDA's cause.

He said the applicants must also show proof of registration as life member or any other membership category to ensure only bonafide supporters benefit.

“UDA party had issued a public notice on May 19 for party members to send their application for the various nominations slots in the Senate, National Assembly and the County Assemblies but has opted to extend the deadline to May 26,” he said.
