Do not insult hustlers just because your father was Vice-President — Ruto tells Raila

Deputy President William Ruto has hit out at ODM party leader Raila Odinga for looking down upon hustlers.

Responding to an earlier statement made by Odinga, Ruto told the former PM to respect hustlers since they work hard to put food on the table.

On Thursday, Raila stated that the theft of public resources was now being labelled as ‘hustling’ and sacking of incompetent individuals was termed as malicious.

“The theft of public resources is now called hustling. The sacking of corrupt and incompetent individuals is now called targeting our people.

“Changing this pattern of events is not going to be easy. But it must and has to be done or we will have no nation to save,” said Raila.

These words did not go down well with the DP who likened the situation to how the poor are perceived when they make some money.

“Tinga, the privilege being VP's son is no license for you to insult hustlers.

“Kenyans hustling as bodabodas, hawkers, traders, small SME's, are NOT thieves but decent hard working citizens deserving RESPECT,” stated the DP through his Twitter page.

Adding: “Ama mtoto wa maskini akipata ameiba, lakini wa tajiri akiiba ni biashara”.

Raila is expected to join other leaders today in Meru for a BBI rally.

In recent weeks, Odinga has maintained that the BBI is meant to unite the country and is not about who will succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

Through the now popular slogan ‘Nobody can stop reggae,” Raila has expressed confidence that the new wave cannot be stopped.

Ruto, however, reads from a different script and said that if the BBI is meant to satisfy certain individuals, then reggae must be stopped.
