A passenger was today arrested for allegedly raising a false alarm in a Johannesburg-bound Kenya Airways plane that forced the flight to abort take off at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi.
Police have said the commotion began after an argument between the said passenger and a flight attendant.
It is alleged that the passenger mentioned the word ‘bomb’ during the argument, causing a scare in the plane, which was getting ready for take-off.
This forced the pilot to abort the take off as the man was arrested and handed over to police for interrogation.
This forced the airport to be closed temporarily as police conducted a search that lasted the better part of the afternoon.
Many affected passengers took to the social media to air their anger over the delays.
I feel for people who are flying out of JKIA especially on KQ or Jambo Jet. They have been enduring delays as long as three hours for the last few days due to ‘technical’ reasons.
And now that JKIA is temporarily shut, I can only imagine their misery compounded. — Ahmed Mohamed ((ASMALi)) (@Asmali77) April 17, 2019
Many landing flights were diverted to other airports.
