Jilted lover commits suicide along Nairobi-Nakuru Highway
A middle-aged man committed suicide in Kayole Estate in Naivasha after finding that his girlfriend whom he planned to marry had an affair with his friend.
The jilted lover jumped into the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway infront of a lorry transporting construction materials to Nakuru town which crushed him to death.
According to an eye witness Sam Kimani, residents who witnessed the incident at first thought it was a case of hit and run but on checking the body they found a suicide note detailing the reasons for his actions.
Kimani said the Kayole section of the highway was prone to cases of pedestrians being hit by speeding motorists noting that in the recent case the deceased had fallen out with his lover.

“The note explained how he met his girlfriend who he had planned to settle down with having ‘fun’ with his close friend and decided to commit suicide with a warning that the two should not attend his burial,” he said.
Meanwhile, a family in Naivasha is counting losses of millions of shillings following a fire in their home Wednesday night.
Residents had to break into the house to rescue two minors who were sleeping in one of the rooms before firefighters from the county government arrived.
Though no one was injured, the family lost virtually everything.
According to a resident, Patrick Mwangi, the fire could have been started by an electrical fault after the power supply to the area went on and off for about three hours.

Mwangi said they heard a loud bang from the house and on checking found smoke billowing from one side of the rooms adding that they alerted neighbours and together with the firefighters helped put it off.
“By the time the firefighters arrived the damage had been caused but they prevented it from spreading to nearby homes,” he said.
Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the suicide incident saying the body had been picked and taken to Naivasha sub-county Hospital Mortuary.
“In the first incident, the fire was caused by an electrical fault and we informed officers from Kenya Power who arrived and rectified the issue.”
