Coconut oil is rich in anti-microbial properties, lauric acid and medium-chain fatty acids that strengthen hair, condition the scalp and help to regrow hair. Also rich in vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, the nourishing benefits coconut oil for hair keeps your hair shiny and looking great!

For anyone who wants their hair to flourish, coconut is a must have staple. So if you have ever wondered just how coconut oil is able to give your hair so much life, here are eight different properties that allow it to work for your hair. As a conditioner

Coconut oil has been proven to work as a better conditioner than store bought. Best way to use is when it is warm and gently massage it into your scalp. Leave it overnight then rinse. It makes both your hair and scalp quite soft. Alternatively, for dry hair you can mix henna, warm coconut oil and milk to make a paste. Apply and leave for 30 minutes then rinse.

As a moisturiser

Coconut oil also contains great moisturising capabilities as it is very stable and does not easily evaporate. This makes it effective in making sure your hair is sealed and remains soft.

Antifungal

Its antifungal properties mean that any time you apply it, the coconut oil effectively kills any fungus that could be on your scalp. This super oil is also effective in treating other scalp problems such as dandruff, boils and even in eliminating lice.

As a base for hair coloring

It is an excellent medium for mixing your all-natural hair colouring.  Because coconut oil penetrates hair more deeply and faster than many other natural oils, it can help your colour to be more vibrant and keep it from fading too quickly.

As a natural hair detangler

If you have long, curly or coily hair, combing especially after a wash can be a nightmare. Using warm coconut oil apply it from ends to roots and let it soak in then gently workout the tangles with a wide toothed comb.

Split ends

If you are not a fan of trimming perhaps due to a bad experience or because you don’t want to lose length, there is hope. Regularly massage your hair with a mixture of coconut oil and almond oil for a few minutes; this will help in minimizing the split ends.
