Kaguta claims crown in Nyali: 2017 Casino end of year tournament attracted over 100 golfers

Clubmate Muchai settles for second position with 73 nett.

Home Club’s William Kaguta ended the year in style after emerging overall winner in the 2017 Casino end year golf tournament played at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country club course in Mombasa on Saturday.

The single handicapper 3, played a four over par 75 gross for 72 nett to beat  a team of 120 golfers  in the day long 18 holes  tournament in one of the end year activities  sponsored by the club.

Kaguta saw his sat shining after starting on a high by sinking a rare birdie on the par five–first hole.

He then went on to add two more birdies on the par four-seventh and the shortest par three-fifteenth holes.

But despite playing bogey shots on seven holes, the golfer was able to recover with eight level pars in both the fore and back nines to lead the day’s event.

Overall winner

“I came to the tournament full of confidence and I had high hopes of victory. Indeed, it worked out and this is my greatest end year gift,” said Kaguta.

His club mate, Lumatete Muchai playing off handicap 12 posted 73 nett to claim the runners up slot and taking the third place on 74 nett was handicap 12 Ben Mureithi also from the same club.

At the Diani’s par 72 Leisure Lodge course in South Coast, home club’s handicap 16 Adams Randal carded 37 points to emerge the overall winner of the 2017 Welcome Inn Hotels charity golf tournament played on Saturday.

Clubmate handicap 18 Sven Kampa on 36 points and Nyali’s handicap 18 Ali Wasim on 35 points were the runners up and third placed respectively.

At the par 71 Malindi course on Saturday, the 2017 Dado Cup event was won by home club’s handicap 22 Lionello Lodovico on 68 nett.

Club mate handicap 20 Rakesh Rajapal was the runners up on a count back score of 72 nett after tying on the same score with his club mate handicap 24  Elsa Zuliani who was third.

And the Sweet Banana Reloaded tournament played at Kisii course on Saturday was won by home the club’s handicap 7 C.Maato on 40 points.

Handicap 13 Wycliffe Ayienda also from the club carded 38 points to claim the runners up slot while handicap 12 A. Kombo was third a point behind.
