Despite the call to keep off Jacaranda Grounds in Embakasi by National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders, the police arrived with tear gas and kept supporters from accessing the venue.
This happened on the morning of November 28 when NASA supporters had been asked to join leaders in a mass memorial service for 29 victims of alleged police brutality.
If police were not notified of the assembly at Jacaranda by Nasa, how did they know to deploy many police to the venue?Hope the police have come to protect Nasa supporters and not to disrupt their assembly. #NASAMemorial

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, the rogue police officers should give us peace as we mourn our fallen soldiers #NasaMemorial— Hon. Mark Nyamita (@nyamita1) November 28, 2017
You cannot beat people into submission

You cannot teargas people into acceptance
You cannot terrorize people into unity
If you have to do this already you've failed.#InaugurationKE #NasaMemorial
No wonder our police force is so lowly ranked in the world. From its top echelons to the new recruit the level of brazen ignorance and crudeness on how to handle crowds is appalling.

Me sometimes I get angry when I see police being deployed in area where NASA wants to hold a rally. The same police are the ones who cause chaos after/before and brand NASA as a chaotic. I am angry at this pic #NASAMemorial #InaugurationKE— Kelvin KALZ (@KALZkelvin) November 28, 2017
Today Kenya police is swearing in their commander, I don't think the high alert here at Jacaranda is necessary . They should be matching towards Kasarani to witness their big day

The entire police are acting in astupid manner, they should act as professionals not militia, how can you deploy an Apc because of one individual? @JBoinnet you act as a militia commander so shameful.— Nelson Namonywa (@nellobando) November 28, 2017
On a personal level I steadily think that if the government would have allowed the jacaranda rally to go on without bringing the police to disrupt it.., it would have been peaceful

What's so illegal about a mere memorial service... It is detestable. They have a constitutional right to be there..... Or is the government afraid of NRM...— mercy muchiri (@mercymuchiri15) November 28, 2017
