Jubilee Party candidates and officials from Nyanza want the area residents to embrace multiparty democracy.
Led by governor aspirant Tom Onyango, party coordinator Odhiambo Makowiti and Kisumu County party chairman Zuberi Liete, the leaders asked the residents to accord Jubilee candidates a conducive environment to conduct their campaigns.
Mr Onyango said residents should embrace multiparty democracy by electing candidates of other parties and not just from ODM.
Addressing journalists in Rangwe, Onyango said there was a need for a paradigm shift in the area's politics.
He said the notion that ODM is the dominant party should be shunned. "Time has come for our people to avoid relying on one political party.
Let us show this by electing Jubilee candidates because my aim is to enable the people of Homa Bay County and the entire Nyanza to be in the Government after the elections," said Onyango.
He added that multipartyism was pioneered by Nyanza leaders and people should enjoy democratic space.
