Former Gor Mahia strikers Dan Sserenkuma and Paul Odhiambo each hit a brace as Bandari trounced ten-man Thika United 3-0 while Sofapaka beat struggling Zoo Kericho by a similar margin in round five of the Kenyan Premier League yesterday.

Sserenkuma’s Ugandan compatriot Allan Kateregga was also on target scoring the lone goal of the match as AFC Leopards clawed Muhoroni Youth in a late kick-off match in Mombasa.

The victories for Bandari and Sofapaka saw them tie on points (10), two points off current league leaders Gor Mahia, who beat Sony Sugar 2-1 on Saturday.

The milkmen finished the early kick off match at the Mbaraki Stadium a man less after Joel Tatah was shown his marching orders in the 82nd minute following a dangerous tackle on Duncan Otewa.

Thika United could have taken an early lead in the 15th minute, but captain Dennis Omino’s penalty kick was saved by Bandari custodian Joseph Okoth.

The visitors were punished nine minutes late through Sserenkuma’s strike before Darius Msagha doubled the lead on the stroke of halftime.

The former Gor Mahia man continued from where he left in the first half to grab his brace four minutes into the second half.

In Kericho, Batoto Ba Mungu scored twice in a span of three minutes to take a comfortable 2-0 first half lead. Ezekiel Okare break the deadlock in the third minute from Odhiambo’s assist before the experienced striker got his name on the score sheet three minutes later.

Nicholas Kipkurui thought he had pulled a goal back for the bottom-placed Zoo only for it to be disallowed for a foul on goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya.

Odhiambo put the game beyond Zoo’s reach with a strike on the hour mark.

In Western, Nzoia Sugar rallied from a goal down to beat local rivals Kakamega Homeboyz 2-1 at Mumias Complex as Western Stima and Chemelil Sugar shared the spoils after their match in Kisumu ended in a stalemate.
