New bill could boost food security in capital

Nairobi County Assembly members are set to debate a bill aimed at ensuring food security in the capital. This comes barely weeks after Israeli Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel visited the country and met with Deputy President William Ruto. The two leaders discussed strengthening co-operation between Israel and Kenya in the agriculture sector.

If the bill is passed, an advisory board will be set up and chaired by a person appointed by the governor, and four other members knowledgeable in matters of urban agriculture promotion, on recommendation of Executive Committee Member Anne Lokidor.
