Kenya finishes top for the first time ever at IAAF World Championships

Kenya finishes top for the first time ever at the IAAF World Championships raking in 7 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze to finish with a total of 16 medals in Beijing- China.

Jamaica finished second overall with 7 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze to make a total of 12 medals while United States of America came third with 5 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze to sum up the best top three with 18 medals in total.

To decorate the good performance by Kenyans in Beijing, Asbel Kiprop closed the day with a derserved gold for Kenya as Elijah Motonei settled for silver in the men’s 1500m final on Sunday afternoon.
