IEBC releases official results for Makueni senate by-election, declares Mutula Jnr winner

Makueni, Kenya:The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commissionon on Saturday released the official results for Makueni senate by-election and declared Mutula Kilonzo Jnr the duly elected senator.

Mutula Jnr made a resounding win garnering 163, 232 votes with Philip Kaloki (NARK) coming a second distant with 9, 762 votes.

John Harun Mwau of PICK was third with 6, 431 votes. Independent candidate Urbanus Muthoka managed 517 votes while Jane Kitundu of Labour Party got 387 votes.

Makueni senate seat fell vacant following the death of Mutula Kilonzo on April 27.
